Living Through a Recession
The very mention of the world brings chills through most of us, especially if you were ill affected by a pervious recession. Also, nothing guarantees it more than news reports saying there will be one. When there is a recession everyone, for very good reason, begins to be a bit more careful with their money and how they spend it. No one wants to be in a huge financial pinch when they could have avoided it by saving a little bit of money. The same is true of any company, if a position is not 100% essential then it is likely it will go unfilled. Better to have a few workers working a bit harder than to have to lay workers off.
However, a recession can also be a time of opportunity for people with a desire to start their own business. As long as you can perform a service or provide a product at the same or better quality but at a lower cost than anyone else you can be highly successful! The bottom line is everyone is looking for ways to reduce the amount of money they spend and if you can assist them in doing that then you will be sure to obtain their business. It can also be a great way to protect yourself as well! If you continue working your current job and you start something on the side, part time, it can be a great way to increase your income and help you survive through uncertain times.
In the end a recession is not the end of the world, it is simply a time when jobs are harder to come by. Unfortunately, chances of getting laid off increase and the time required to find a new job becomes longer. For those of us with mortgages and other types of loans this prospect can be especially daunting. However, find ways to increase your income, it is possible in a recession, and you will survive through it!
